My first full-length poetry collection is finally here! FUCHSIA won the Sillerman First Book Prize for African Poets last year and was published by the University of Nebraska Press.

I can’t believe these poems are out in the world, roaming free without my inquisitive pen between their verses. This collection took me about five years  from start to finish (more or less), and a great part of the work involved me trying to understand each individual poem as it is, and finding its place within a coherent manuscript.

FUCHISA has found a great home in the African Poetry Book Fund. It is quite an honor to be amongst the company of other authors from the mother continent.

It’s also humbling to see FUCHSIA featured in lists such as 25 New Books by African Writers You Should Read (Lit Hub) and Books by Black Authors to Look Forward to in 2016 (The Root).

FUCHSIA is available for purchase here.

I am also honored to have one of my poems, Behind Walls & Glass, published in Coiled Serpent, a wonderful anthology of poets from Los Angeles. The anthology will be released by Tia Chucha Press just in time for AWP. It is available for purchase here.

And a poetry chapbook, Behind Walls & Glass, is also available for purchase from Finishing Line Press.

Stay tuned for upcoming readings and other events!
